Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] circe_tigana:

wearing: green Old Navy Perfect Fit short-sleeved t-shirt and charcoal yoga pants. bare feet.

hair: pulled up on the top of my head and pinned with one of those springy clip thingies

make-up: currently, none. plans for aveda ivory base and lancome dark brown mascara later.

eating/drinking: water and a turkey sandwich

bag and what's in it: black somewhat-professional bag (because I went up to Brock HR yesterday morning and am going up again tomorrow so there's no point in switching), holding two file folders containing my administrative and teaching resumes, an 8x6 lined notebook with a silk japanese print cover, ipod, headphones, cellphone, palm pilot, wallet (brown leather, big enough to hold checkbook), change purse (round, black silk with red dragons),pens (uniball gel impact black), earplug case with earplugs mysteriously missing.

last thing said: "thank you very much."

should be: reading a friend's play, calling life insurance people

last website visited: St. Catharines public library (I know, how virtuous!)

desktop pic: none - I find them distracting, actually. I have a plain blue Dell background on the laptop, and a generic cups-of-tea/coffee one on the desktop.

away message: default. I don't AIM much these days.

current playlist on iPod: Top 25 Most Played (I know, fucking lame!)

did today: called a million HR and temp agencies, checked all the job boards I've got bookmarked, printed out a relevant posting, called my old colleague and received information and cheering up, called another old colleague and got okay to use for reference, made turkey sandwich, ran dishes in dishwasher, checked lj, replied to email, called LA accountant, realized I still need to pay life insurance, emailed resume to relevant people. Wrote this meme. Showered. Checked library to see if they had Julia Cameron book recommended by comforting colleague (they did, which was a fucking shock because it's a crappy library). Talked to my mom on the phone and received good advice and cheering up.

doing tonight: finish reading friend's play, see therapist, work on assignment for Melissa's class, watch tv, try to go to bed early, eat dinner (leftover pasta). Start on Julia Cameron book.

listening to: Thomas Dolby, Beauty of a Dream

went to bed/woke up: 1:30 am/10:00 am

currently reading: friend's play, Julia Cameron book if it's really at the library as it's supposed to be.

last tv: ten minutes of Hamish Macbeth before Jeff made me turn it off because I had it turned up too loud so I could understand the impenetrable Scottish accents.

last movie: Constantine, which I liked very much.

last person you called: old colleague J.

last person who called you: my mom.

last mail received: Scientific American magazine? I'm not sure.

last mail sent: phone bill.

last im: Sloane, Sunday.

i need: MONEY. Peace of mind. New laptop. New guitar.

looking forward to: this too shall pass

ate today: turkey sandwich

last thing i bought: groceries last night

current annoyance: self, life in all its varied splendor

_The Sound of Paper_, which according to Gail has a bunch of stuff about creativity and times of transition. She's reading it now, as she's selling the house she shared with her ex-partner and thinking about moving to another state.

I've had that checked out from MCPL since July. Maybe I should look at it instead of merely hoarding it...

I also recommend Grassroots by Baumgardner & Richards (they also wrote Manifesta which I haven't read yet) - it's about how to be a feminist activist but also very encouraging/reassuring because their suggestions point out ways that you may already be doing more than you thought.

Hey, darlin', I'll swap you your present non-employment for my frelled-up knee (maybe a torn meniscus, maybe just strained, can't see the ortho until next Monday and dying of boredom).
