Revenue Shuffle

Well, the inevitable has finally occured.  The nonprofit which has been supporting me since I moved to Canada has finally collapsed under the weight of their own incompetence.  So, new source of revenue required, but I'm totally burned out on fundraising/grantwriting and really want to do something else.  I'm looking around but I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to end up doing.  Eventually I'd like to go back to teaching part-time, I think, but I've got some debts to pay off before I could afford to do that.  I'm going to spread my resumes around and see what comes up, basically.

Today I've got to finish getting my resumes updated, go up to Brock to fill out some paperwork to see if I can pick up some TA work there, call the Canadian accountant to make an appointment to get our Canadian taxes taken care of, fill out the paperwork for our American taxes, go to the chiropractor, and do laundry.  I don't think all these things are going to happen today.  But I'm going to do what I can.

On the one hand, I'm sort of relieved because I was getting really tired of what I was doing and dealing with my horribly disorganized client.  On the other hand, if they could have paid me for another six months, it really would have been a lot more helpful.  Oh, well.

I don't get it. If the Africans were that close to the edge, why put you on retainer?

The rhetorical nature of this question illustrates the incompetence which led to the inevitable financial collapse referred to heretofore.

In other words, because they're stupid.

At least the wait for the inevitable is over. I'm sending vibes for cool and energizing new opportunities your way.

Kick ass and take names.

Only instead of kicking ass, you're sending out resumes, and instead of taking names...

...never mind, you'll be taking names. For the resumes.

Ouch! But, well, opportunity knocks? Maybe you'll find something to do that you absolutely love.
