Well, yesterday was eventful.

First, I went to the dentist for my first Canadian tooth cleaning. I really like the hygienist, who was much gentler than the one I got in LA when my long-time hygienist got RSI and had to go on medical leave. Her replacement was like the Ghengis Khan of dental hygienists. Not gentle with us, precious, no. My teeth and gums are in great shape and they only need to clean them twice a year; I was going three times a year in LA. But I switched to the sonic toothbrush, which rocks. So that was good.

Then I went to see the Physiotherapist, Sandy )

So later that night I went to the gym, did my walking, stretched, and went to pick Jeff up at the University, where he'd spent the whole evening giving an exam. On the highway on the way there, the back right wheel starting making extremely frightening thumping/grinding/scraping noises, such that I couldn't even get to the next exit. I pulled over on the shoulder, called Jeff to say he'd have to get a cab or the bus home, and called CAA for a tow to the service station. This morning the garage called to say that the brake had basically rusted through and fallen apart, which I think really has to be considered more of a bug than a feature. One of the things I expect from a motor vehicle is working brakes. I'm just picky like that. $200 to fix it, which is much less than I thought whatever the problem might cost, and the other brakes all look fine. We can't really afford the $200, but we can afford that more than a larger amount of money, and the car's a necessity for a lot of the jobs I'm trying to get.

Still no word from the greenhouse people, by the way.

Now I'm going to have some peanut butter toast, ice my knees and watch Highlander. Sloth, thy name is Jen.
